VN Alexander, PhD

Instructor, Resident Complex Systems Theorist

V. N. Alexander will be presenting monthly live webinars Jan-May 2024, as a continuation of her 2023 course (now available as a recording), The Perils or Coding Humans: A Response to Transhumanism. Alexander is a philosopher of science, specializing in art-science topics and critiques of mechanisms from a complex systems science and biosemiotics perspective. Her honors include a Fulbright Scholar grant (ITMO University, StP, Russia), a Rockefeller Foundation Residency (Bellagio, Italy), a public scholar position with the NY Council for the Humanities, a visiting researcher position at the Santa Fe Institute, a Jewish Foundation for the Education of Women Fellowship, an Art & Science Lab Residency (Santa Fe, NM), and the Alfred Kazin award for best dissertation at the Graduate Center, City University NY, which was published in 2011 as The Biologist’s Mistress: Rethinking Self-Organization in Art, Literature and Nature. Alexander is a member of the distinguished group of researchers, the Third Way of Evolution. Her work on novelist Vladimir Nabokov's contributions to the theory of insect mimicry has been widely recognized, and her award-winning literary fiction novels include, Smoking Hopes (1996), Naked Singularity (2003), and Locus Amœnus (2015). Sara Woods Kender

Sara Woods Kender is a Clinical Herbalist and Reiki Master/Teacher with over 15 years' experience as a health practitioner and teacher. She owns and operates an herbal apothecary in New Hampshire. Her passion is to teach people about the plants that grow around them and how to use them for medicine. She teaches many core classes including A Journey with the Plants to Find Your Roots: a 7-month immersive experience with plant medicine, Intermediate class series: Phytochemicals and Beyond Your Materia Medica, and the Advanced herbal Series: Diagnosis Techniques and Intake Skills teaching advanced student clinical skills. Sara also does community outreach and can come to you to teach you about the plants that grow on your land.  At IPAK-EDU, she teachers Herbology and Human Health, An Herbalist’s Perspective, and The Microbiome, Diet, and Human Digestive Health.

Murray Sabrin

Murray Sabrin, PhD, is emeritus professor of finance, Ramapo College of New Jersey. Dr. Sabrin is considered a “public intellectual” for writing about the economy in scholarly and popular publications. His new book, The Finance of Health Care: Wellness and Innovative Approaches to Employee Medical Insurance (Business Expert Press, Oct. 24, 2022), and his other BEP publication, Navigating the Boom/Bust Cycle: An Entrepreneur’s Survival Guide (October 2021), provides decision makers with tools needed to help manage their businesses during the business cycle.  Sabrin's autobiography, From Immigrant to Public Intellectual: An American Story, was published in November, 2022.
